At the moment it seems that L.A. soul singer Glen Anthony Henry is one
of the few artists who follow the REAL soul music of classic 70’s style.
His music remembers those old and beautiful albums recorded in the 70’s – silky soul music with those sweet and magic touches of the flutes, the horns and last but not least – the strings. Marvin Gaye and the old Chicago sound like Curtis Mayfield or Leroy Hudson are just a few of the influences. Together with Carlo Coupé – renowned spanish composer, arranger, B3 hammond-organ player, producer, DJ – Glen already presented the heritage of these truly masters on his album „Relax & Love“ (UNIQ140-2/-1) without forgetting the present & future.+
This year Spanish TV became witness of the strong authentic live performance of Glen Anthony Henry. Not only Glen’s style (furry hat plus funky sun glasses) but also his backing band consisting of 16 (!) different instrumentalists constituted impressively what soul is all about! Just be aware that everybody of those fantastic backing musicians comes from fine acts – Speak Low, The Sweet Vandals, Funxplosion – and you know ‚this is an experience nobody should miss!

In September 2007 Unique Records released the first 45 of Glen Anthony
Henry. “Hope” (UNIQ130-1) is a wild soul funk stormer which has become
an anthem from scratch, played by many international tastemakers like
Keb Darge, Snowboy. The album entitled “Relax and Love” was released on
CD and LP in March 2008. The second single taken from the debut album
is entitled “I Don´t Know” which is yet another delicate and beautiful
modern soul masterpiece just like the whole album is!
Until now „I Don’t Know“ was only avaible as CD single. But 7Inches are such a beautiful thing and for that reason UNIQUE will release this track as 7“. Obviously the year of 2008 still keeps some specials in store.
